ABOUT THE MARCHING SKALETONS

The Marching SKAletons are led by trumpet, trombone and sax ably complemented by melodica, harmonica, and a rhythm section of guitars, drums and wash board. The music is celebratory and includes a mix of ska, latin, electro and pop with a nod to the mariachi sound.

Using the Day of the Dead celebrations as inspiration, artist Jim Sanders created the highly distinctive skeleton look for the Marching SKAletons which when combined with the bands energetic and eccentric delivery adds atmosphere and gets audiences dancing. Appealing to all ages, we also can provide percussion making workshops and performances with children.

BIOGRAPHY: The band was formed in May 2009 to perform in the Brighton Fringe Festival with Day of the Dead dancers Copper Dollar. The following month we joined them again for performances at Glastonbury festival and also performed on stage at the Bimble Inn. After being spotted by Madness’ guitarist at the Brighton festival the band were invited to perform at the Madness festival “Madstock 2009” in Victoria Park. Following several side projects the band were invited to support Madness again on their 2015 Grandslam tour at Hove Cricket Ground. This exposure led to a Mexican themed wedding booking in June 2016. We continued the year with a busy summer which saw us performing on both days of the Together the People Festival in Brighton and at Boundary Brighton. In September we teamed up again with Copper Dollar at a national lottery funded Day of the Dead multi-media event in Basingstoke and Halloween event in Shoreham. We were invited back to Hove Cricket Ground on Bonfire night to entertain the crowds and perform on stage to 10,000. Most recently we had the pleasure of playing Jim Sanders Exhibition launch, Art of Treason Gallery, Brighton and finished last year at the Brighton Centre entertaining the crowds for Madness.
